Another Upgrade?

Is time just flying? Why does it seem like I just bought Paint Shop Pro X (10), and now the next version is out.

Oh well, I'm a version behind on my vector draw program, and maybe two version behind on my desktop publishing program. At least Corel lets you try the new software. Half the time I thing they just change a few buttons and stick in a few new 'wizards' and call it a new version.

I was happy with the upgrade from PSP 8 to PSP X, but I think there was a short lived 9 in the middle. Maybe I'll just wait for 12.

Why are we numbering software the way France numbered kings?

[UPDATE: I get a free PSP XI shirt if I upgrade - yup, I'm sold.]

Wow, comment spam bots hit the comments hard the past few months. Katie noticed some a couple of days ago on newer posts, they'd been hitting the archives for months. One post had aver 1200 comments. I know I'm not that popular.

So for the time being, we've got one of them 'enter the letters you see' thingies. Don't like it - blame the spammers.

All in all removed 3,294 spam comments. If I got one of your's harry, I'm deeply sorry.

The 11th

Here's my September 11th story. Well, actually, it's my mom's.

Tuesday was a clear fall day. School had started a few weeks ago, and in a small Christian school a teacher began her class. The night before she made a visual to help teach that day's verse. It was a drawing of a tower - large, strong - a fortress. The verse - The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

It was about nine.

A few hundred miles away the first plane hit the first tower. Before the class was over the second plane hit the second tower. People were running. They were running from the towers. And those who ran to them didn't run for refuge or for safety. No, they knew they were running into the worst day of their lives. And for some, the last.

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe."

There are some that say on that day America lost her 'safety'. Others might argue that we just realized what had already - silently - happened. But America's safety has never and will never be found in the tall symbols of free trade. The refuge for her people has never and will never be the large fortress like symbol of our military. In fact safety and refuge will not even be found in what those buildings represent.

True safety will not be found in tighter borders. It will not be guaranteed by preemption. It will not come from better intelligence. Refuge is not found in the court house, the white house, or even the church house. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

What's in a name? Does a word bring safety? Is refuge to be found in a series of letters? Or is it found in the One Who answers to that name, and only experienced by those who call upon it. America's safety will not come from an acknowledging of God, but from trusting in God.

And it is only the righteous that runneth into it, and is safe. Perhaps it is that the unrighteous never runneth into it. Or maybe it is that all who runneth into it are made righteous. America will never be safe until she's ready to be righteous.

Will this strong tower guarantee safety from attack, from danger, from harm? No. But it will guarantee survival. For it's one tower that can never be taken away. And for the individual it guarantees eternal safety and refuge. When you've run into this tower there truly is nothing to fear.

The teacher finished the class. A few minutes later she learned what had happened. Like many other Americans she spent the rest of the day stunned, watching what seemed to be a very, very bad dream. But you see, the name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. We just need to realize where true safety lies.
